We treat many different types of injuries, both acute (recent) and chronic, incorporating researched-based treatments and modalities to get patients out of pain- for good! Patients are often happily surprised by the personalized care they receive after coming to our practice and spending 100% of their treatment time with the therapist in a healing setting. Physical therapists are trained to be able to treat musculoskeletal disorders (soft-tissue injuries caused by sudden or sustained exposure to repetitive motion, force, vibration, and awkward positions). These disorders can affect the muscles, nerves, tendons, joints and cartilage in your upper and lower limbs, neck and lower back. With their knowledge of human anatomy and training, PTs are able to create a PT diagnosis and treat the musculoskeletal impairments that they find.
Low Level Light Therapy (LLLD) is a modality that utilizes the natural therapeutic benefits of light in combination with LED technology. This unique and FDA-approved technology is able to target beneath the skin into underlying tissues, stimulating the body's natural cellular functions to promote the body's own innate healing process. This dynamic treatment option increases circulation, stimulates the production of collagen (protein used to repair damaged tissue), increases RNA/DNA tissue, brings ATP (energy) to the tissue cells, relieves pain and promotes relaxation. This is a great treatment option for anyone with chronic pain, disc herniations, ligament tears, sprains or strains.
CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system. The craniosacral system is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. In CST, practitioners release restrictions around the central nervous system, ultimately facilitating the body's natural and innate healing processes. CST has been shown to be he a helpful treatment option for those suffering from migraines, chronic pain, orthopedic injuries and many other healthcare challenges and symptoms. CST has also been shown to help with the physical components related to somatic conditions such as Post Traumatic Stress, depression and anxiety.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy (LDT) is a gentle, non-invasive technique to help reduce pain, decrease swelling and improve the circulation of lymphatic fluid. This gentle technique stimulates the immune and parasympathetic nervous systems allowing for deeper healing. LDT can be used for most injuries to expedite the recovery process by promoting the body's own ability to heal itself. Addtionally, LDT can be beneficial for patients suffereing from lymphedema, a condition that occurs when there is excess swelling due to a buildup of lymph in an area of the body. In America, the #1 cause of lymphedema is from post-cancer surgery due to lymph node removal. For patients with Lymphedema, receiving Lymphatic Drainage Treatment can greatly decrease swelling/pain and increase quality of life.
Reflex integration therapy is a form of ostephathic manual (hands-on) treatment utilizing methods developed by Dr. Bruno Chikly to help integrate retained neonatal/primary reflexes. Many studies have shown that both children and adults can have retained neonatal/primary reflexes which can lead to poor posture/scoliosis, neurological disorders, learning disablities or cogintive challenges. Optimally, these reflexes are inhbited/integrated in the first few months of life. Adults can see the reoccurance of these neonatal/developmental refelxes with many pathologies including whiplash, Parkinson’s, stroke, dementia, trauma, PTSD etc. In children, these reflexes are often found in learning disablities, processing/sensory integration dysfunctions, ADD/ADHD, balance issues, poor postural control, speech/language delays etc. With gentle manual therapy techniques, these reflexes can be inhibited, leading to drastic improvements in posture and quality of life.
Strain Counterstrain (SCS) is a gentle technique to treat tight and contracted tissue in the body's fascia and skeletal muscles. In a SCS treatment, the practitioner uses a gentle-hands on approach to slacken/decompress the involved structures in order to remove painful and reflexive tissue contractions. This ultimately deactivates deep fascial pain receptors (nociceptors) to reduce the protective/tense state of the tissues, drain metabolites and provide proprioceptive realignment. Unlike most techniques designed to eliminate muscle tension, this process is unique in that it is completely pain free. Many patients report lasting relief of chronic pain resulting from a variety of different conditions including trauma, surgery, postural strain, repetitive motion, or infectious or viral conditions.
